April 13-14, 2002 Gaia Reclaiming participated for the second time in the peace rally at the Y-12 nuclear bomb plant in Oak Ridge, TN. Catwrenae, Parsley and Irish led circle dance in the Reclaiming tradition and Dances of Universal Peace with the Saturday class on nonviolent activism. There were 175 people attending the class. On Sunday, the trio again led Dances during the demonstration in front of the bomb plant. This event is organized by the Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance. August 5, 2001 Gaia Reclaiming members participated in the peace demonstration at the Y-12 nuclear bomb plant in Oak Ridge. Catwrenae, Parsley and Irish led a circle peace dance with the crowd at the rally, with 100 people dancing. We also had our Lughnasadh ritual at the fence of the bomb plant, which was joined by other demonstrators. Our ritual intention: "To shine the light of Lugh on the darkness of our fears, transforming them to peace". March 22-24, 2002 Gaia Reclaiming hosted it's first Elements of Magic class taught by local Gaia Reclaiming teachers. 13 students attended, from Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Arizona. (class flyer can be seen here) July 15, 2001 Gaia Reclaiming members participated in the 3 mile kickoff walk of a three week pilgrimage undertaken by the Nipponzan Myohoji Atlanta dojo. The monk and nun of this dojo have vowed to make a pilgrimage each year to Oak Ridge, TN, the location of the last full scale nuclear bomb plant in the U.S. Their pilgrimage is timed to end on the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, and the Oak Ridge "Y-12" bomb plant was the origin of the bombs that were detonated at Hiroshima. At the bomb plant, they join the annual peace demonstration coordinated by the Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance (OREPA). September 28, 2002 Gaia Reclaiming holds first theme dinner: Green Dragon Dinner, honoring the Green. We had a great turnout for the potluck and a fun time was had by all! |
